How do WoW Forever invite a friend codes work?

Short answer: a WoW Forever invite a friend code lets one friend play WoW Forever free from 4 to 11 November 2026, with no subscription or game time. You get the codes by buying a WoW Forever upgrade pack. We got a load of code emails, I think about four, and I think they're going to not be used, if I'm perfectly honest.

Which packs come with WoW Forever invite a friend codes?

The codes come with the Forever upgrade packs (Blizzard):

UpgradeInvite a friend codes
Skyborne Heroic Pack1
Skyborne Epic Pack3
Warcraft Forever Collection3

Blizzard started emailing them on 20 October, PST. Gift purchases don't earn codes, the codes don't include beta access, and Blizzard adds that "other restrictions apply". Each code arrives in its own email (Gfinity).

How do you use a WoW Forever invite a friend code?

Copy the code from the email and send it to your friend. They redeem it on Battle.net, and they can then play WoW Forever during launch week without a subscription or game time. Launch is 3pm PST on 4 November.

The code is for someone who hasn't bought in. Blizzard's support article says codes "are not redeemable on accounts that have purchased any of the World of Warcraft: Forever upgrade options", as quoted by Timesaver. The support article itself sits behind a Battle.net login.

Who am I giving my WoW Forever codes to?

I don't know anyone that would be playing that wasn't already playing with me in the beta. I think all of us jumped on WoW Forever as soon as one person pointed it out. It was just a domino effect of all of us jumping in.

Can invited friends play the blue elves in WoW Forever?

No, according to Gfinity and Timesaver: an invited friend doesn't get the blue elves (Skyborne) or their starting zone. Blizzard's own post doesn't spell that out.

I would still give someone a free code. I don't think the blue elves is what makes WoW Forever WoW Forever. I think they're just a cute addition. I'm not gonna lie, I'm slightly unsure why they were an addition in the first place, but it's cool that there's more selection.

I think WoW Forever is just a better version of WoW Classic. It's nice that it's got the blue elves, but I don't think that's a deal breaker. Bear in mind I'm going to be playing Undead or Orc, so I'm not even touching the blue elves.

How far can you get in a week on a free code?

God, it depends how much you play. A friend of mine, who we won't name, believes he'll be level 30 before I land off a 13-hour flight. Obviously this is hyperbole, but he did end up with quite a few characters in the beta. We even went to Blizzard's Beta Timewalking page, which gave you your stats for what you did within the beta.

What happens when the free week ends?

The free access stops. Blizzard's window is "from November 4 through November 11, 2026, PST", with no end hour given. After that, WoW Forever needs a subscription or game time.

Blizzard's post doesn't say what happens to characters made on a code. On Blizzard's forums, other players say you can keep playing once you subscribe on that account, but that's players answering, not Blizzard.
