Privacy notice

This notice covers the gitm.gg website: the homepage and the articles under Games, Reviews, Opinion and Guides. Apps hosted on other gitm.gg addresses have their own notices.

Who runs this site

gitm.gg is run by George, an individual who publishes as George In The Meta. He is the data controller for this site.

What is collected

Analytics (PostHog). When you read a page, PostHog records which pages you view, what you click (including links to TikTok and other platforms), the page or site that sent you here, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address), your IP address itself (stored with each event; we use it to leave our own visits out of the numbers), your device and browser type, and how fast the page loaded. It does not set cookies or save anything on your device for analytics, there are no accounts or forms, and sessions are not recorded.

Visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Cloudflare counts page views with a small script that reports which page loaded, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, your country, and how fast the page loaded. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. To count only real readers, we match these counts against Cloudflare's request logs, which include IP addresses, and leave out our own.

Hosting and security (Cloudflare). Cloudflare delivers the site and blocks attacks. To do that it processes your IP address and basic request details.

Nothing here is used to identify you personally, build an advertising profile, or sell data.

Why, and on what basis

You can object at any time, and you can switch analytics off yourself below.

Who processes it, and where

Both act on this site's behalf under their data processing agreements, which include standard contractual clauses for transfers outside Thailand.

How long it's kept

PostHog keeps analytics events for one year on the plan this site uses; after that they are no longer available to the site. Cloudflare keeps request logs for its own limited periods. To have data about you removed sooner, email info@gitm.gg.

Your rights

Under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act you can ask to access or get a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and move it. You can also complain to Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee. Email info@gitm.gg and you'll get an answer within 30 days.

Turn analytics off

This saves a small "no analytics" setting in your browser so the choice sticks, and stops PostHog. Clearing your browser data removes it. Cloudflare's visit counts are added by the hosting network itself, so this switch can't turn them off; they are cookieless and work as described above.

Links and embedded videos

Links to TikTok, YouTube, Steam and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Some articles and the homepage show George's YouTube videos and clips. The thumbnail pictures are served from gitm.gg, so nothing loads from YouTube while you read. Only when you press play does the page load YouTube's player (from youtube-nocookie.com); from then on Google's privacy policy covers what YouTube collects about that playback.

Children

This is general gaming content, not aimed at children.
