Short answer: yes, League of Legends is still worth getting into in 2026. I still think it's a great thing to get into. But you're going to struggle to learn it by yourself. If you have people to play with, that's a much better introduction. I've played since 2012.

You can learn League of Legends on your own, but it's hard without some sort of outside help. League has a tutorial now. It didn't when I first started, so at least there's that. The problem is all the nuances you miss just from playing. If your understanding isn't already good enough to know what you're missing, you won't notice you're missing it. It's kind of self-defeating like that.
What's the best way to start League in 2026?
The best way to start League in 2026 is with people who already play. That's a lot better of an introduction than learning on your own. I got into League through the people I was playing the DayZ mod with back in 2012.
Is League too long and too hard to play casually?
For me, normal League is too long and needs too much concentration now, so I only play ARAM (Dota 2 or League in 2026?).
