Is Path of Exile 2 better than Path of Exile 1?

Short answer: yes, Path of Exile 2 is better than Path of Exile 1. I fundamentally think it's the better game, and the WASD movement is really good on a ranged build. But I've put 401 hours into Path of Exile 1 and 27 into Path of Exile 2, and I can't explain why. It's not a lack of time. It just isn't capturing me.

Yes, WASD movement is really good in Path of Exile 2 when you're playing a ranged build. I went back to Path of Exile 2 recently and used WASD instead of clicking to move, and on a ranged character it works.
Why did I play more Path of Exile 1 than 2?
I played more Path of Exile 1 than 2 and I honestly don't know why. There's something about Path of Exile 2 that isn't making me play it as much as I did the first one. It's a better game. It's just not hooking me.
Should Path of Exile 1 players try Path of Exile 2?
Path of Exile 1 players should try Path of Exile 2, because I think it is fundamentally the better game. It just didn't grab me the way the first one did.
Is Path of Exile 2 fully released?
Not yet. Path of Exile 2 leaves early access with its 1.0 full release on 11 December 2026, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it stays free-to-play (RPG Site). The full release adds the last two story acts and the Duelist, a sword-wielding class.
I didn't even realise. I was playing the early access this whole time, and it still felt great. I completely forgot it hadn't actually released.
If you sign up by 11 December (PST) you get extra cosmetic rewards, and early access players need to sign up too (Path of Exile on X).
