Is Tropico 6 worth it in 2026?

Short answer: yes, I think Tropico 6 is worth buying in 2026. It gets you used to the mechanics, and it's just a fun game in general. I played it again not too long ago.

Should I buy Tropico 6 or wait for Tropico 7?

I'd buy Tropico 6 now rather than wait. Tropico 7 comes out on 28 January 2027, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and on Game Pass. Tropico 6 might be worth buying once 7 is out, because it might go on sale then. But Tropico games go on sale pretty early anyway. When I wrote this, Steam had Tropico 6 at $9.99, 75% off its $39.99 price (฿287.50 on the Thai store).

Is Tropico 6 hard?

Tropico 6 can be hard. If it's your first time, play the campaign. It's similar to what I said about GTA: some people see the story as just the story, but the story often teaches you the mechanics, in a more structured way than sandbox or free play would.

Is Tropico 6 better than Tropico 5?

Yes, 6 is better. Unlike Civilization, Tropico is one of the series that actually improved with every new game. Civ kind of got stuck on Civ 5 being great, 6 being mid and 7 being expensive and mid. I've played Tropico since Tropico 4, maybe Tropico 3, I can't remember. They've improved as they've gone along, and most of it has been in how you control stuff. A lot of it has been quality of life more than anything else.
