Is the Rust Halloween event worth coming back for?
Short answer: it depends why you stopped playing Rust. If you're a PvP player and into what Rust is actually designed for, the Halloween event is worth coming back for. It isn't what would pull me back, because I don't have the time for my PvE stuff. Facepunch's Halloween update lands on 22 October 2026 at 18:00 UK time.
When is the Rust Halloween update in 2026?
The Rust Halloween update is on Thursday 22 October 2026 at 18:00 BST (13:00 EST). It's a mandatory server and client update that Facepunch says will "enable some spooky features" (Facepunch, 1 October). Facepunch hasn't announced a wipe with it.
Who is the Rust Halloween event worth coming back for?
The Rust Halloween event is worth coming back for if you enjoy PvP and the way Rust is meant to be played. It might be worth hopping back in just to see the new content. Just be aware of how much of a time sink the game is going to be.
Why won't it bring me back?
It won't bring me back because I need time to do my PvE stuff, and I fundamentally don't have that time right now. PvP demands even more, because then you're defending yourself too (how I play Rust PvE solo).
